Emily Midwinter's profile

Emily Louise Midwinter - Portfolio

My Portfolio will display the skills I have learnt over the 4 years taking Art, Product Design & Creative Media.
Art - Connecting my passion to paper
These pictures show my sketchbook from my As and A-level Art work, I really enjoyed producing art works with various medias and textures, for example I used ripped paper as a brush and tiles as my canvas.
I sketched my pet dog because I loved the texture of his coat and diverse colours I could show off within my work. The skills I learnt from this project were very beneficial to my overall art as it allowed me to play around with different medias, finding out which one suits my art style the best. This lead me onto creating other pieces of art mixing different medias together for one outcome.
Body Positivity
With this side of my art work, I choose body imperfections because the topic is really personal to me. I hate how everything young boys and girls see on social media is filtered and a lot of it fake. I wanted my art work to take my own spin on body positivity by making "All body Types Are Beautiful" my slogan throughout this project. This was beneficial not just to my art skills but also to my mental health by how I view myself. You can see all the different techniques I used with clay work being my favourite.
Other art work I would like to include...
Product Design - Products That I Design
This is a project  for year 13 course work, I am designing a boot organiser that my client will eventually use. (Pictures Underneath)
What I have shown above is the research I have carried out, to produce the best final outcome for my client. In this, I have produced a very in-depth, multiple page study.
Here I show the process of my sketching of how I developed my product concepts. The goal of my sketches are for myself to get a better visual understanding of the product I'd like to create. Sketching gives me a avenue to put all of my thoughts down onto paper in a creative way. Not just for me but for my client's benefit as well.

When sketching I refer back to my specification and research I have collected for my client, these pictures show this process. With this design Idea, I picked an issue that was important for my client. They wanted the product easily foldable and transportable. I resolved the issue with the help of these sketches
Creative Media - My Designs and Research
In this section you can see my As and A-level "Creative Media - Print Based Media" coursework. I really enjoyed researching all of the different topics that were set, as this gave me better insight into how I'd do my own digital graphics and I appreciate the outcomes. Directly below is the research portion of my product photography project, with screenshots of my photographer research which I carried out with the intention to gain a deeper understanding of topic as a whole.
Below are my creations for the product photography where I produced an advertisement for a selected day-to-day object which I use. I decided my makeup was the ideal product to shoot as I know almost everything about it and had very good ideas. Included with these screenshots is a making log of my favourite design, so you can see the progression.
Below are screenshots of my book cover project where researched some of my favourite books and created a modern day book cover for one of my most loved childhood movies. The goal of this assignment was to produce a book cover that wouldn't look out of place on a shop shelf, I believe I have achieved this by the different techniques I used when designing.
Finally I have included some other elements of my work from these subjects. I personally love these pages and pieces.
